Passive Displacement Ventilation (PDV) System
Passive displacement ventilation, or PDV, is an innovative air distribution system that closely resembles the displacement ventilation system. In both systems, air is supplied at the floor level and extracted from the room at the ceiling level. However, with PDV, no mechanical fans are used to propel air into the room. PDV systems rely completely on the process of natural convection to deliver the chilled air to the end user.

How It Works
PDV relies on the natural convection of heat transfer without the need for mechanical fans to deliver the chilled air to the end user. The PDV coil supplies cold air supply directly to the occupants or heat load within the indoor space at very low velocity. The cold air will spread across the rooms until it comes into contact with heat sources. Upon contact with the heat source, the cold air will slowly rise as it picks up heat from the occupants or heat load. The warm stale air will rise towards the ceiling where it will be exhausted from the space, by taking advantage of the natural buoyancy of warm air, stratification is achieved across the height of the room.
